“Complain Louder” Barbara Ehrenreich
This is a collection of musings from the margins of art and music. It starts off with a lot of stuff about klezmer. My attempt is not to get klezmer “right” historically but to steal from it whatever I can that will serve the purpose of Heightened Conviviality. From the vantage point of the 21st century, we can clearly see that capitalism and materialism have reduced the arts to meaningless and absurd distractions. Finally, liberated from hopes for status or money, we can stop pretending and restore the true function of these forms- Psychic Courtyardism!
